At around four years old, I started teaching myself to read, and I’m fairly sure I tackled writing then, too. Archie comic books left behind by a babysitter had become my more-than-picture books, much to my parents’ surprise.
I have loved the written word ever since.
After graduating from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Education/English and History, I taught writing to teenagers and and adults. After many enjoyable years teaching and publishing articles in education, I changed direction. I discovered the field of interior design, selling French antiques, and publishing articles in interior design trade magazines and websites. I also found time to pursue one of my lifelong dreams: writing the World War II memoir of my father, a German American who served as an Officer in the US Army. This nonfiction book is under contract for publication by Texas A&M University Press in 2025.
A few years ago, at a well-known mystery author’s book signing, I mentioned my angst about writing fiction. The author urged me to try it, saying if I could write nonfiction, I would absolutely love writing fiction. He was right!
I have completed my first novel, a cozy mystery titled Small Town Mysteries: Lessons in Love and Lies. It is part of my Small Town Mysteries series, to be followed soon by Oh My Gluttony!
I live in my hometown with my patient husband Steven and our sweet Westie, Rikki. In addition to writing, I spend my time redecorating just about anything, cooking or at least thinking about it, and gardening when our Texas weather isn’t too hot. Oh, and shopping!
